I pour my heart and soul into writing each of my books in hopes children will learn to love reading as much as I do. That's my reward in all of this. However, it's always nice to hear when my books have won awards because it gives them a broader audience— reaching more children is  the ultimate goal.

This takes me back to my childhood when I used to race home with my Scholastic Book Fair flyer and spend the evening circling my favorite books. I wanted them all!

Most of my books are written in rhyme and, therefore are rarely translated into other languages. I am thrilled that Arctic White , the one book written in prose, is now in Japanese! I can't read it but isn't it beautiful?
